Visibility and truth
Futher thoughts on the theme: The visibility of an object is not an aspect of that object.
The rockface overhung the sparse valley. It shadows and shapes shifting colors as the time of day moved on. Its solidity seemed unmoveable, but its visibility was ephemeral, sliding into textures and aspects yet unseen. What if, what if truth is similar? That it remains solidly what it is, but it is our understanding of its visibility that shifts and reveals new nuances and meanings as time moves on? What if the visibility of truth, is what misleads us into misconstruing the actuality of truth? What if it is our lamp of light that we seek truth out with, shifts and distorts truths visibility?
I once attended a painting course with the abstractionist Guido Molinarii. During the critiques, his laughter would resound when he percieved what he thought was a Freudian slip of the paintbrush on the canvas. I can hear him now ... , but regardless of the fallacy of the interpretation of this being a phallic symbol, rest assured it is but a painters muller, used to create a suspension of pigment in the paints medium.
